Let’s Make: Autumn Leaf Suncatchers

If you are looking for easy autumn crafts for kids, then these leaf suncatchers by @rascals_and_rainbows are perfect!

All you need to do is make your own leaf templates and grab some simple supplies to make these beautiful suncatchers for your garden.

“We were inspired to make autumn themed suncatchers as we have been enjoying lovely autumn sunshine over the past few weeks and my girls have been getting creative with their new Discovery Create and Paint Easel in the garden! The suncatchers are simple to make and look pretty on the easel with the sun shining through.”

What you will need:

Plum Discovery Create and Paint Easel

Leaf Stencils

White and Black Card

Paint Sticks

Coloured Tissue Paper

Sticky Back Plastic Vinyl Film

Scissors

Pencil

Method:

1. Draw leaf shapes using stencils and cut them out.

2. Use leaf shapes to trace around the black card.

3. Draw another outline approximately 1cm wider than each leaf shape.

4. Cut out the outer leaf shape and then cut around the inner leaf shape.

5. Place the thick black leaf outline onto a square of sticky back plastic vinyl film.

6. Fill in the centre of each leaf with coloured tissue paper (Autumnal colours).

7. Cover over the tissue paper with a layer of sticky back plastic.

8. Cut around the outline of each leaf.

9. Draw around your hand and arm on the Easel with a paint stick to create a tree trunk and branches.

10. Attach the leafy suncatchers to the branches when the paint has dried.

11. Paint more autumn leaves and grass on either side of the tree. Now wait for the sun to shine through to see all the pretty autumn colours!
